Harriet Quimby was probably born near Arcadia, Michigan and went to school in the Arcadia area until she was about twelve years old. This exhibit summarizes her accomplishments and her family's history in the area.
This Arcadia native was the first American woman to earn a pilot's license. She was the first woman to fly solo across the English Channel, which she did a few days after the Titanic sank. (Click here for a closer view of the posters. Click here for a closer view of the case's contents.) |
